Material You is coming to Chrome OS soon –

Google may take the Material You look to revamp the look and feel of Chrome OS. The idea seems to be to unify the design elements of all the company’s systems to offer a user-friendly experience.

9to5Google analyzed the experimental code and created a prototype (the one shown above) based on early design changes to the Chrome OS Calculator app. In this first draft, the novelties are more timid, but quite noticeable.

Individual windows on the system that is not full screen will have the sharpest, most well-rounded edges. The header already shows a semi-transparent look and is aligned to the background, instead of the solid white as before.

Inherited from Android 12, Material You brings notable changes to the windows and dynamic colors, which adjust according to the user’s wallpaper. The system called “monet” takes the entire color palette from the background and replicates it for programs, system windows and buttons.

The old vertical layout is out of the picture to make way for a horizontal pattern, rounded corners, larger text and a change to the Product Sans font. These additions promise to substantially change the user’s visual experience, although they make no difference in functional terms.

Chrome OS already hinted at Material You

While it’s something really welcome and innovative, it’s not the first time Google has hinted at including Material You in the Chromebooks’ software. Not long ago, the giant renewed the wallpaper app with a look that resembles the initial promotional images.

In the case of Chrome OS, the wallpapers obtained show that the premise will be the same as for Android. If your background has blue as its predominant color, it is likely that all visual elements in your system will use shades of blue.

In recent weeks, Google has invested a lot of efforts to improve Chrome OS. One of the additions was the quick view of the built-in calendar, but an automatic sharing feature on the platform was also revealed.
