This year Apple should make the iPhone 14 line official, which already stars in several rumors. However, behind the scenes there is already talk about some specifications of the iPhone 15. These are only scheduled for September 2023.
As early as it is for any type of confirmation involving the iPhone 15 line, the source of this information is market analyst Jeff Pu. According to him, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max should be the first Apple phones to have a periscopic lens for 5x optical zoom. Thus, Apple would come closer than several Android rivals have been including in their phones for a few years.
The system would be provided by the company Lante Optics. Apple would already have samples of the lenses available, and must decide by May whether or not to use the component. If the deal proves fruitful, around 100 million components could be ordered — showing Apple’s optimism for 2023.

Thus, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max would continue to offer an optical zoom below what is seen in the market, especially in the price range in which they will be sold. Last year Apple finally went on to offer 3x optical zoom, still a far cry from the 10x that Samsung offers on its beefier flagship.
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Max with wide and ultrawide only
Another inference that we can have from Jeff Pu’s information is that in the next two years, the basic iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 should continue to offer only wide and ultrawide lenses. At this point, photographic sets are not that versatile anymore. However, digital zoom will still be available, allowing the approach limited by the loss of quality.
Remember, iPhone events take place in September. This year, however, it is possible that between March and May Apple will present a new iPhone SE. For those excited, the bad news is that the device is expected to preserve the design of the 2020 model, only including 5G connectivity thanks to updated hardware.
