Aristocats live-action is in development by Disney –

The wave of remakes in live action Disney started in 2010, with Alice in Wonderland directed by Tim Burton. With 14 projects so far, including Beauty and the Beast, with Emma Watson; and Cruella, the prequel about the villain of 101 Dalmatians, with Emma Stone, looks like the studios are already studying the next one: aristocats, animation from 1970.

According to DEADLINE, the adaptation is in the early stages of development and it is known that Will Gluck (Pedro Coelho) and Keith Bunin (Two Brothers: A Fantastic Journey) will pen the script, with Gluck producing through Olive Bridge Entertainment.

There are no further details on visual effects or names included in the cast. However, as this is a movie that follows animals in the main story, you can expect something very similar to the 2019 version of The Lion King or even something like The Lady and the Tramp, which arrived in 2019 exclusively on Disney+.

The difference from one production to another was precisely the use of the technology behind the film: with characters being built from scratch in The Lion King and real dogs in The Lady and the Tramp.

According to sources close to DEADLINE, the idea is that aristocats follow exactly the same line The Lady and the Tramp, with real animals taking the roles of main characters.

How is Aristocats?

With the help of a soft-spoken cat, a family of Parisian felines who intend to inherit a fortune from their owner try to return home after a jealous butler kidnaps them and leaves them on the streets. aristocats arrived in 1970 and had sequels studied by Disney: in 2005, a spin off focused on Marie was being developed by the company, but was soon canceled along with two other projects.

aristocats also had projects designed for TV: in 2000, a series was commissioned by Disney Television Animation. The idea was that the story would follow Marie, Toulouse and Berlioz with a new character named Delancey. Production was suspended the following year.

It is known that, although these films do not have such a good reception from the specialized critics, Disney has already reserved dates until 2023 for projects in live action.

In 2022, the public will have the chance to see the remake of Peter Pan & Wendy and Pinocchio, both of which will arrive on Disney+, while Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is expected to start production this year.

There is still no confirmed release date for the live action in aristocats. Meanwhile, the original 1970s animation is available on Disney+.
