A speedrunner has zeroed Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in just two hours. Detail: he was blindfolded. The player is called Mitchriz, a streamer who used only memory and audio cues to guide him.
The event took place during Awesome Games Done Quick, one of the world’s best-known speedrun events, which raised over $3.4 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation, an NGO dedicated to cancer prevention. For those who don’t know, speedrun is a practice that consists of finishing a game in the shortest possible time – learn more here.
According to the website HowLongToBeat, it takes, on average, 29 hours to reset Sekiro. You can check out Mitchriz’s full gameplay in the video below:

Amazingly, that wasn’t the streamer’s best time in the FromSoftware game. In December 2021, he claimed to have beaten the game in 1 hour and 52 minutes – even less than the time spent at the event.
SUB 2 HOURS BLINDFOLDED!!
I finally did it after the months of grinding. Really happy with this one, and so excited to show off all the new strategies at GDQ. pic.twitter.com/crI6oRNE8F

“Finally made it after months of grinding [fazer ações repetitivas para conseguir vantagem em um jogo; neste caso, se aperfeiçoar no speedrun]. I’m very happy about it and very excited to show all the new strategies in GDQ.”
Other Records in Awesome Games Done Quick
During the event, other players also managed to achieve very unusual world records. Kena: Bridge of Spirits was reset to 28m35 (by InsertLogic); Pumpkin Jack in 44m18 (by Jaxler); and Weebed at 17m21 (by Shadowthepast).
Another speedrunner, Olenoname, managed to zero Stardew Valley in just 17 minutes. This happened thanks to a bug in the game, which causes NPCs to gift the player with rare items, making the game much easier.
The next GDQ speedrun event will be Frost Fatales, with only female participants, between February 27 and March 5. You can follow everything through YouTube and Twitch channels.
