Apple completes A16 Bionic design, but high performance will come at a high cost –

A new rumor suggests that the processor of the new models of Apple’s iPhone 14 line appears to be ready for manufacture, but the architecture of greater efficiency will also bring a higher cost of production.

The information is from leaker Sam (@Shadow_Leak on Twitter), who points out that the A16 Bionic chip had its design finalized by Apple.

The processor is expected to be produced by TSMC and its new 4nm lithography process, further reducing the chipset size and condensing more transistors into a smaller footprint for more power efficiency and speed.

It is said that TSMC raised the manufacturing price and that Apple accepted the order. Between 120,000 and 150,000 processor units per month will be produced at first.

With greater distinction between iPhone models, Apple is expected to offer a more powerful GPU for the A16 Bionic that will equip the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The company has already adopted such a strategy with the A15 Bionic, offering 4 GPU cores for the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini and 5 GPU cores for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

We still don’t know if the company will bet on more radical changes between processors besides GPU, but it would not be impossible for Apple to present an “A16 Pro” with even higher performance for the two premium models.

Without a compact 5.4-inch version, Apple’s new generation of smartphones should arrive in September consisting of the iPhone 14 and the new iPhone 14 Max with 6.1″ and 6.7″ screens, and the aforementioned iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max with same screen sizes but higher quality.
