AMD may relaunch several models of the Radeon RX 6000 family bringing faster memories, as new rumors released by the leaker indicate Greymon55. With specifications still unknown, the news can count on a little more power thanks to the increase in bandwidth, aiming to combat some of the models announced by Nvidia recently.
AMD may upgrade RX 6000 GPUs with faster memory
According to the information, AMD would be preparing new versions of Radeon RX 6000 GPUs, but it is not yet known exactly what improvements would be applied to the releases. Greymon55 suggests that one of the novelties may be the adoption of faster memories, present only in some of the most powerful solutions, such as the RX 6900 XT in its version with integrated liquid cooling.
AMD seems to be preparing a new version of the RX 6000 series, I don’t know the details, maybe an upgrade to 18Gbps?

Virtually the entire lineup employs reasonably low speed GDDR6 memories, set at 16 Gbps, with the only exception being the RX 6600, with even slower RAM at 14 Gbps. Adopting 18 Gbps chips would increase the bandwidth, speeding up the data transfer between the VRAM and the GPU, which consequently would result in a little more performance.
Another important change that can be applied to the new cards is the adoption of TSMC’s 6nm manufacturing process, compared to the 7nm lithography used in current models. Although not a glaring modification, the use of 6 nm should improve energy efficiency and, integrated with faster memories, should guarantee a modest increase in performance.
News may arrive to fight RTX 3090 Ti
There are some reasons that give strength to the possibility of seeing the RX 6000 line updated, even in the face of rumors that the Radeon RX 7000 line should debut later this year with some entry models based on this generation. The main one is the amount of reviewed releases made by Nvidia, with emphasis on the already confirmed RTX 3090 Ti.
An RX 6900 XT with faster memories and a 6nm chip can bring the power increase needed to remain competitive against the new bets of the green team’s rival. In addition, the recently announced RX 6500 XT and RX 6400, focused on low cost, are equipped with 18 Gbps memories and 6 nm lithography, something that could also motivate the company to upgrade the more powerful models.
