Harry Potter | Why was Alan Rickman the only one to know the end of the story? –

Alan Rickman was the only actor on the set of Harry Potter to actually know how the story ended, even with eight films to go. Interpreter of one of the most complex characters in the entire literary franchise and, consequently, in the movies, the actor kept a secret during all this time.

The information was revealed during the documentary Back to Hogwarts, when the protagonist trio remembered some actors who, unfortunately, are no longer with us. Rickman died in 2016, victim of an ischemic stroke that led to the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Daniel Radcliffe was responsible for revealing this big secret to the public: “He told JK Rowling very early on, ‘I think I need to know,’ and he never told anyone.” According to the actor, Rickman never got to comment even to the director of The philosopher’s Stone, Chris Columbus, about the end of the saga. “Chris questioned while he was like ‘I’ll tell you later’.”

In 2016, when Snape died in Harry Potter, one fan even questioned JK Rowling on Twitter about what exactly she had told Rickman at the beginning of the films. “I told Alan what was behind the word ‘always’,” replied the author of the book series. always is part of the dialogue that marked the Half-Blood Prince’s redemption in both the literary and cinematographic saga, when Dumbledore questions: “After all this time [você ainda ama a mãe de Harry]?” and he replies, “Always.”

Ralph Fiennes (actor of Lord Voldemort) even confessed during the HBO Max documentary that he felt intimidated by Alan Rickman’s “flawless” lines, which shows the dedication that the actor had with his character. To this day, he remains one of the most popular characters in Harry Potter, loved by both book fans and movie fans.
