Tyler Huntley’s Pro Bowl nod has NFL world calling for cancellation of event: ‘Time to be done with the Pro Bowl’

Should the NFL drop the Pro Bowl like it’s hot? With Tyler “Snoop” Huntley getting a Pro Bowl selection on Tuesday, some seem to believe so.

The Ravens quarterback was added to the AFC Pro Bowl roster Tuesday, replacing an injured Josh Allen — and displacing people’s faith in the event.

On its surface, Huntley is certainly a confusing choice: He played in six games, throwing for 658 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in that span. Those are hardly Pro Bowl quarterback numbers, but what even are anymore?

Some pointed to the fact that Huntley was given the nod over Browns QB Jacoby Brissett or Steelers passer Kenny Pickett. Neither had exemplary seasons, but both did have better overall numbers than Huntley. Brissett threw 12 touchdowns to six interceptions over 11 starts, while Pickett threw for 2,404 yards, seven touchdowns and nine picks as a rookie.

With the NFL opting to replace the traditional Pro Bowl setup with a series of random competitions including dodgeball and a flag football game, and adding the Manning Bros., the league is grasping at straws to keep the seemingly dying event relevant.

There are a few reasons for that: Dipping viewership, player participation and a less desirable location all play into the unappealing event.

Huntley’s inclusion in this year’s Pro Bowl didn’t exactly allay fears that the game is on its deathbed, with several weighing in on the passer’s inclusion to the all-star event:

As it was said in “Star Wars:” “So this is how the Pro Bowl ends — with Tyler Huntley’s inclusion.”
