The Pelicans are spiraling and the road gets no easier as they travel to Denver to face the Nuggets on Tuesday.

New Orleans enters Tuesday night’s test having lost 13 of its 16 games, including eight in a row. It’s no coincidence that All-Star forward Zion Williamson has missed the team’s last 14 games with a right hamstring injury.

In their most recent outing, the shorthanded Pelicans were blown out by the Bucks, who cruised to a 25-point win behind 50 points from two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. No less than 48 hours later, New Orleans gets to face another two-time MVP in Nikola Jokic, who will be looking to get his team back on track after a two-game skid.

Thanks to a jumbled Western Conference, the Pelicans are still within three games of a top-three seed despite their recent skid. They’ll look to get back on track in the Mile High City.

Is Zion Williamson playing tonight?

Williamson will not play against the Nuggets on Tuesday.

While the 22-year-old is progressing in his recovery from a right hamstring injury, he is still a ways away from returning to the court.

On Tuesday, Jan. 24, the Pelicans announced that Williamson would be re-evaluated in two weeks’ time, meaning the next update on his potential return will come on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
