Barcelona have completed the signing of exciting teenage talent Giulia Dragoni from Inter on a two-and-a-half year deal, keeping her at the club until the summer of 2025.

The 16-year-old Italian youth international will become the first female player from outside of Spain to train and reside at Barcelona’s esteemed La Masia academy.

Dragoni made her Serie A debut for Inter in November 2022, coming off the bench during her side’s 0-0 draw with Fiorentina. She has gone on to feature four times in the top flight this season.

Barcelona confirmed that the club had ‘reached an agreement’ with Inter to secure the services of Dragoni. She completed her first training session with Barça B at Barcelona’s Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training base on Tuesday.

The midfielder has represented her country at under 16 and under 17 level, and is regarded as one of Italy’s most exciting young players.

Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, which has produced the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta, first welcomed female residents in August 2021.

Players combine sport and study while living at the Centre de Formació Oriol Tort, and have a pathway to the Barcelona first team.

Barcelona have enjoyed huge domestic dominance in recent seasons, winning three successive Liga F titles, and triumphing in the Champions League for the very first time in 2021.
