Montpellier vs PSG – Ligue 1: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

Paris Saint-Germain hope to get their Ligue 1 campaign back on track when they travel to Montpellier on Wednesday night.

Christophe Galtier’s side surrendered two points against Stade Reims at the weekend, throwing away a one-goal advantage in stoppage time to keep their lead at the top of the table at just three points.

Luckily for PSG, closest challengers Lens and Marseille also failed to win, but PSG know that a run of seven points from a possible 15 isn’t good enough given the resources at their disposal.

Here’s 90min’s preview of a game they will be desperate to win.

PSG team news

Marco Verratti misses out for PSG after being sent off in the 1-1 draw with Stade Reims – a game the league leaders were winning up until Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun’s 96th minute equaliser.

Nordi Mukiele and Presnel Kimpembe are sidelined through injury, while Nuno Mendes’ return to the side may continue to be staggered after recent muscle problems.

PSG predicted lineup (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Pereira, Marquinhos, Ramos; Hakimi, Ruiz, Sanches, Bernat; Messi; Mbappe, Neymar

Amid ripples of discontent over Kylian Mbappe captaining PSG against Pays de Cassel in the Coupe de France, there’s plenty of work to be done if Christophe Galtier’s side plan to waltz to another Ligue 1 title.

PSG’s recent form has been patchy to say the least – Sunday’s unexpected draw with Stade Reims the latest in a string of disappointing results – so it’s perhaps reassuring that Montpellier have been widely inconsistent all season long.

At home they have been particularly poor of late, picking up just a single point from a possible 15. PSG, with their famed front three all fit, should ease to victory if they can shift through the gears and remember just who they are meant to be.

Prediction: Montpellier 0-3 PSG
