Transfer news LIVE! Arsenal’s Caicedo plan; Chelsea in fresh Fernandez bid; Porro to Tottenham latest

Deadline day is almost upon us and there are still deals to be done for Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and more. The biggest signing in the next 48 hours or so could be the Gunners’ move for Moises Caicedo, which is continuing at a pace after his public transfer request. Brighton recently rejected a £60million bid.

Declan Rice and Ivan Fresneda are also being linked with Arsenal. Chelsea, also long-term fans of Rice, are still looking to sign Enzo Fernandez and a new offer is reportedly in the works. But, Benfica want to strengthen the Argentine’s release clause. Malo Gusto yesterday became Chelsea’s latest signing.

Tottenham are also active and are expected to complete a £42m move for Pedro Porro imminently, while also being linked with a swoop for Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of England star Jude. Follow all the latest January transfer news, rumours and gossip via Standard Sport’s live blog!

Arsenal lay out Caicedo plan

Arsenal are hopeful of landing Moises Caicedo this month.

Football.London report on Brighton’s move for a replacement being key to the deal – plus agreeing a transfer fee with the Seagulls.

And Caicedo arriving would also not disrupt plans to sign Declan Rice, as he would still be wanted in the summer if the Ecuadorian signs.

Caicedo was not involved earlier today when Brighton beat Liverpool in the FA Cup.

Another week, another bid for Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea!

TyCSports journalist Cesar Luis Merlo says an £88m transfer fee will be offered alongside a player of Benfica’s choice.

The final decision will be made by the club president, Rui Costa.

The chances of Inter Milan cutting short Romelu Lukaku’s stay at the club are decreasing.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report on the Chelsea striker’s lack of fitness and injury issues leading to huge doubts over a potential second season on loan in Italy.

At the very least, Inter could seek a cheaper deal with the Blues.

What to expect from Spurs

Tottenham transformed their season on deadline day a year ago with the signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, and Antonio Conte‘s stuttering side could do with a similar boost 12 months on.

Spurs have made just one signing so far this month, the loan capture of winger Arnaut Danjuma, despite Conte’s frequent insisted that his squad is a long way from being able to compete for top honours. But under-pressure chairman Daniel Levy has form for deadline-day dealings, and there is a chance Spurs could be among the busiest clubs in the Premier League again.

West Ham want Guendouzi

West Ham have joined the chase to sign Marseille midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

L’Equipe report that David Moyes is weighing up a bid for the former Arsenal man, who is also wanted by Aston Villa boss Unai Emery.

Emery worked with the player at the Gunners but a reunion is looking unlikely, according to Foot Mercato, with Marseille unwilling to lose a key player in January.

Absent Caicedo ‘badly advised’

As expected, there is no Moises Caicedo in the Brighton squad today.

The club insist they have no intention of selling the Ecuador midfielder despite his public plea to be sold in light of bids from both Arsenal and Chelsea.

Seagulls owner Tony Bloom has the final say, has no need to sell with the club in a healthy financial position and, according to BBC Sport, has informed Arsenal of the same.

Caicedeo has been told to stay away from the club until Wednesday and then they will hope the matter calms down.

BBC Sport add that Brighton believe Caicedo has been badly advised.

Spurs launch Bellingham bid

Tottenham want to sign Jobe Bellingham, the youngster brother of England star Jude, according to Football Insider.

Jobe has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Birmingham, making 15 appearances since turning 17 years old in September.

Spurs expect a chase for his signature come the summer and, the report claims, are already working on beating any competition with a package to lure him to north London at the end of the season.

Brother Jude, meanwhile, is also expected to be at the centre of a huge transfer tussle.
