Not many girls can put me under real pressure

Elena Rybakina says Aryna Sabalenka has the ability to put her under real pressure and that’s what happened during their Australian Open final. Rybakina, 23, has one of the biggest games on the WTA Tour but Sabalenka was able to neutralize it and beat the Kazakh 4-6 6-3 6-4 to win her first Grand Slam title.

Rybakina, who defeated world No 1 Iga Swiatek en route to making the Australian Open, admitted that Sabalenka’s game was extremely difficult to handle. “I would say that not many girls can put me really under the pressure.

Against her, it’s not easy because she has a great serve and she plays really aggressive. Her ball is coming very heavy. There is maybe few girls who plays like this. Today I had some opportunities. Didn’t take,” Rybakina said, per the WTA website.

Rybakina after losing to Sabalenka: The quality of tennis was good

Sabalenka fired 17 aces but also had seven double faults. But Sabalenka was serving big throughout the entire final and she wasn’t scared of going for a big second serve.

“Few 2nd serves she hit probably as a 1st serve. She served really well. It’s not easy mentally. She didn’t have great serve last year, but now she was super strong & she served well. I respect that. I know how much work it takes,” Rybakina said, per Musab Abid.

Sabalenka now has a 4-0 head-to-head against Rybakina. But saying that Sabalenka has been dominant against Rybakina might be wrong because all of their five matches went three sets.

“Yeah, I think quality of the match was good. It was very powerful game from both of us. Well, I think it’s just, as I said, not many powerful players there is on tour. Maybe this kind of pushes the other players to be more aggressive,” Rybakina added.
