However, Unai Emery and Johan Lange could face stiff competition for the Englishman’s signature with Leicester City and Newcastle United also seemingly in the race.

Crook Tweeted: “Jack Harrison one to keep an eye on in the final days of the window. #LCFC have tabled a bid as per @David_Ornstein which I expect to be rejected. #AVFC also keen and #NUFC have long-standing interest.”

Leon Bailey upgrade

Emery could land an upgrade on current Villa winger Leon Bailey by securing a deal to sign Harrison from their rivals before the window slams shut.

The Jamaica international has been an inconsistent performer in the Premier League since arriving at Villa Park. In the top flight this season, the forward has averaged a Sofascore rating of 6.69 and chipped in with four goals and two assists in 19 appearances – creating 0.8 chances per match.

This comes after the 25-year-old scored once and assisted two goals for his teammates, whilst making 0.4 key passes per outing, in 18 league games for the club last term.

Harrison, meanwhile, has averaged a Sofascore rating of 6.79 and produced one goal and four assists in 15 Premier League starts for Leeds this season – making 1.8 key passes per game.

In the 2021/22 campaign, the £11m wizard plundered eight goals and created 1.2 chances per appearance in 32 outings for the Whites and that came after his impressive tally of eight strikes and eight assists in the 2020/21 Premier League term.

The 26-year-old, who was once hailed as “explosive” and “dangerous” by Leeds boss Jesse Marsch, is a proven performer in the English top-flight with the gem consistently showing that he can contribute with goals and create chances for his teammates on a regular basis.

Whereas, Bailey has averaged under 1.0 key passes per match in both of his Premier League seasons to date and has been far from prolific, with five goals in 37 matches, which suggests that Emery would be landing an upgrade on the ex-Bayer Leverkusen man by signing Harrison.

Bringing the Leeds forward to Villa Park could increase the team’s creative output and provide the likes of Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran ample opportunities in front of goal to do damage in the final third, given that the Englishman has been an excellent creator for Marsch.
