By Vince D’Writer: On Wednesday, January 25th, Jake Paul announced the signing of super middleweight contender Shadasia Green (11-0, 10 KOs), and in addition to the signing, Most Valuable Promotions new acquisition has been added to the Serrano vs. Cruz undercard, as she will face Elin Cederroos on February 4th at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden.
Shadasia Green is a hard-hitting contender who is ranked number one by the WBC due to her status as the WBC Silver champion. If she’s able to earn a win against Cederroos, then Green should receive a shot at the undisputed champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn.
A product of Paterson, New Jersey, Shadasia Green was one of the best high school basketball players in the state. She was a McDonald’s All-American nominee who became an NCAA student-athlete at Old Dominion, and during her junior season back in 2009-10, Green averaged 10.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
She developed a passion for boxing at the age of 15, and approximately a decade later, she proceeded to once again become active in the sport. As an amateur, Green earned a Silver medal at the 2016 Championships in Kazakhstan, and three years later, she made her pro boxing debut.
Green’s debut was a brief one as she earned a 2nd round TKO victory over Briana Kirkwood. Her third professional opponent Irais Hernandez was able to go the distance, but since the 2019 unanimous decision win over Hernandez, Green has posted eight consecutive knockout victories.
The last time Shadasia Green was in the ring, she faced the two-time world title challenger Ogleidis Suarez. Green took immediate control of the fight by pressing forward and consistently landing the right hand. After five rounds of absorbing power shots, Suarez didn’t come out of her corner for round 6 because she was unable to continue.
Now the 33-year-old Shadasia Green is preparing for the biggest fight of her career to date, as she will take on a former unified champion. If Green is able to defeat Cederroos, then a shot at the undisputed super middleweight crown could be in the undefeated contender’s immediate future.
While Shadasia Green is seeking an initial opportunity, Elin Cederroos (8-1, 4 KOs) is hoping to be victorious on February 4th in order to receive a second chance to fight for undisputed. Back in April 2022, on the Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor undercard, Elin Cederroos lost to Franchon Crews-Dezurn by way of a unanimous decision.
DAZN’s February 4th fight card will feature two undisputed championship bouts as Alycia Baumgardner will take on Elhem Mekhaled in the co-feature for the undisputed super featherweight title, and in the main event, Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano will battle Erika Cruz for the undisputed world featherweight championship.
The bout between Green and Cederroos isn’t an undisputed world title fight, but it’s a high-stakes match because the winner will more than likely earn a shot at the undisputed super middleweight championship. Green is aware of the fact that she must focus on her February 4th opponent, but she admits she has one particular boxer on her radar.
During her guest appearance on ‘Tha Boxing Voice,’ the rising star Shadasia Green spoke about that potential opponent. “I want to fight Franchon Crews, the super middleweight undisputed world champion. She wants to fight the names, the big names that’ll bring out the money, but you know what’s taking place on my behalf? I’ll be the biggest name.”
Green went on to state, “Let’s see if the duck is because of the platform that I supposedly don’t have, or the bag that I supposedly don’t have, what’s what. Politics can only play a part for so long, and then the truth reveals itself, so I’m ready.”
