Tyson Fury will leave brother Tommy in Saudi Arabia if he loses to Jake Paul

Tyson Fury has threatened to leave brother Tommy in Saudi Arabia if he loses his boxing showdown with Jake Paul.

Tommy will take to the ring to settle his bitter rivalry with Paul on February 25 pending an official announcement. The British star was forced to withdraw on the two previous occasions the pair have arranged a clash, first with a broken rib before being stopped from travelling to the US for their planned August meeting.

After weeks of talks, the fight is back on with the former Love Islander expected to go into the contest as favourite given his greater background in boxing. And WBC champion Fury has insisted the fight will be officially confirmed once the final details are put into place.

”I don’t think it’s been officially announced, but I hear an announcement is imminent,” Fury told talkSPORT when addressing his brother’s upcoming clash with Paul. “They are finally getting it on and are going to throw down. The two YouTube people get to battle it out for the king of the YouTubers.

“It’s going to be fun, and I expect Tommy to chin him. If he doesn’t he can stay in Saudi Arabia.” Fury’s brother currently has eight professional wins as a fighter but his rivals have largely been those with a losing record in the sport.

Paul will go into the contest as an underdog despite his six professional wins, given they have largely been against some with limited fighting experience including UFC stars Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren. The ‘Problem Child’ did step up his opposition with a win over Anderson Silva in October however, and is confident he can defeat the Briton to set up a bout with his rival KSI.

Before their previous scheduled clash, Fury had agreed a £100,000 bet that his sibling would win the fight with his upcoming foe rival Paul. And during a video addressing the wager, Fury had already suggested that the 23-year-old may as well retire if he is unable to progress beyond the content creator.

“I’m backing Tommy and I will put my money where my mouth is,” Fury told iFL TV. “I have got £100,000 with anybody. I’ll put it on Tommy and that’s it, that’s how I feel about it. If Tommy Fury can’t win against Jake Paul he has no right in being a fighter. He has to enjoy it as he’s getting paid a lot of money to fight a guy who hasn’t fought on an actual boxer.

“I don’t think either of them having anything to lose. Let’s just say Tommy gets paid millions of pounds for nothing if he loses, because he wouldn’t have won any title belt in England ever if he can’t beat Jake Paul.”
