A week after withdrawing from the Australian Open, Nick Kyrgios underwent knee surgery. Nick showed his post-surgery picture, relaxing while listening to music and showing his middle finger. World no. 21 has been struggling with a knee injury for months, missing the last part of the previous season and skipping the United Cup, Adelaide and the Australian Open at the start of 2023.
Kyrgios is confident about playing at a high level again, saying he would do everything to return and challenge the rivals from the top. Nick underwent an arthroscopic procedure to clean up his lateral meniscus and remove a paralabral cyst.
Kyrgios did everything he could in the previous weeks to take the pain away and compete at home Major. However, his knee was getting sorer and sorer, making it impossible for him to endure the best-of-five efforts.

Kyrgios had a great run in 2022, winning 37 out of 47 matches and playing in his first Major final at Wimbledon.
The Aussie finished the year just outside the top-20, hoping for more good results in 2023 once he returns to action. Nick did not have luck with the draw at the last year’s Australian Open. The home favorite faced world no. 2 Daniil Medvedev in the second round and experienced a 7-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 loss in just under three hours.
Nick gave his best to follow the better-ranked rival’s pace in the opening three sets at Rod Laver Arena. He fought well for two and a half hours before Medvedev crumbled his resistance in the fourth to avoid a decider. Daniil fired 31 aces and had the upper hand on the first and second serve.
The Russian defended seven out of nine break chances and secured four breaks from 11 opportunities to seal the deal and remain on the title course. Kyrgios bounced back at Wimbledon and reached his first Major final following Rafael Nadal’s withdrawal in the semi-final.
Nick faced Novak Djokovic in the title clash and won the opening set, hoping for more in the rest of the encounter. However, the more experienced player turned the tables and produced a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 victory for his seventh Wimbledon crown.
Novak broke Nick for the first time in a career in the second set and stayed focused in sets three and four to emerge at the top and claim his 21st Major crown.
