Patrice Evra warns Man Utd star to be aware of Arsenal's "really dangerous" tactic

Patrice Evra has told Erik ten Hag he needs to nullify Arsenal’s attacking threat down the right flank during Sunday afternoon’s clash.

The Gunners are set to welcome Manchester United to the Emirates for a top-of-the-table clash. Arsenal are eight points clear of Manchester City in second and boast the same lead over United in third. Mikel Arteta’s side won 2-0 at Tottenham in their last game.

Ten Hag has already enjoyed one victory against Arsenal this season – beating them 3-1 at Old Trafford in September – and Evra believes he will need to find an answer to Benjamin White’s and Bukayo Saka’s attacking partnership to win again on Sunday afternoon.

“Arsenal will be looking at us and saying, ‘Here we go, Manchester United are back’,” Evra told Betfair. “We all know the history between the two clubs. I used to call them [Arsenal] my babies and they’re not the babies anymore.”

On Arsenal’s win against Tottenham, Evra added: “I watched their match against Spurs and I want to give them credit. They looked like a proper team. People talk a lot about their offensive play, but they are disciplined defensively. Saka and [Gabriel] Martinelli come back to the defensive line. You could see that they sometimes had five or six at the back.

“The White and Saka combination is unbelievable. Saka makes all those runs inside and I hope that United’s left back, [Tyrell] Malacia is aware of that because I used to do that job and those inside runs are really dangerous.”

Ten Hag will have decide whether to play Malacia or Luke Shaw at left-back on Sunday afternoon. Shaw started United’s most recent game – a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace on Wednesday night – in that position, but Malacia has played there 21 times this season.

Arsenal, meanwhile, will have one eye on City’s upcoming Premier League games against Tottenham on Thursday night and Wolves on Saturday afternoon. Pep Guardiola’s side can cut the gap to just two points before Arsenal’s game against United gets underway.

Although City are trying to hunt down Arsenal, Evra believes Arteta’s side have what it takes to win a first Premier League title in 19 years. He added: “Arsenal are complete. The fans don’t believe they’ll win the league because they are scared.

“I don’t see why they won’t win the league. In that Spurs match, I saw a team playing like champions, and that was in a derby. Of course, United are United and Arsenal have a problem with United. Tottenham are scared of Arsenal, Arsenal are scared of United.

“That’s always how it’s been with the way we used to beat them. Now, this is a big game. I want United to go there and put pressure on them.

“Every match, we’re saying this is a new challenge for Arsenal, if they win this game, if they win that game, and what do they do? They win the games. Finally, it’s going to be like a match from back in the day, we’re going to have a proper Arsenal v United game.”
