Demetrious Johnson loves the opportunity to compete in some of the most beautiful countries in the world, but the reigning ONE flyweight world champion is undeniably excited about the opportunity to compete in front of an American crowd for the first time in nearly five years.

After hitting the commentary booth at ONE Fight Night 6 last Friday night, ‘Mighty Mouse’ spoke to the media at the post-fight press conference about his upcoming trilogy bout with Adriano Moraes and the opportunity to compete in the United States once again.

“It goes both ways. But I do enjoy fighting close to home just because there’s not a big timezone change, no long flights, and actually I also do enjoy traveling around the world competing as a foreigner in the beautiful world, in beautiful countries in Asia.”

On May 5, ONE Championship will head to the 1stBank Center in Colorado for its first-ever event in the United States. ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video will air live and for free on Amazon Prime Video, but if you are a ONE fan in North America, this will be the first time you don’t have to hop on a plane to catch the action live and in person.

Demetrious Johnson will main event the card alongside his division rival Adriano Moraes. No other bouts have been announced by the promotion at this time, but as we get closer to the spring date, ONE will reveal more of what is sure to be a truly spectacular evening of fights.

Demetrious Johnson shares key to long-term success in combat sports

Demetrious Johnson has competed at an elite level for nearly two decades. Having earned world championships in multiple global organizations, ‘Mighty Mouse’ recently discussed the key to his longevity in combat sports during an appearance at the ONE Fight Night 6 post-fight press conference on Friday night:

“The key to longevity is just knowing when to train and when not to train. The last time I’ve done any mixed martial arts training is Thanksgiving. So the last time I touched that base has been by about two months, and I think that’s how we helped my longevity and just my mental capacity is in mixed martial arts.”

Though Johnson has stated on more than one occasion that his career is coming to a close within the next few years, ‘Mighty Mouse’ has not once exhibited the characteristics of a fighter entering their twilight years.

Competing at the highest level, Johnson has reminded fans time and time again why he is one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters of all time.

Will Demetrious Johnson do it one more time against Adriano Moraes in May?
