Adrien Broner On Hank Lundy: “He Knows What He’s In For”

By Dan Ambrose: Adrien ‘The Problem’ Broner says he wants to knock out journeyman Hank Lundy early on February 25th so that he can get his paycheck earlier and go home when the two meet in the main event on BLK Prime pay-per-view at the Gateway Center Arena, in College Park, Georgia.

Broner is getting top dollar from BLK Prime,  who are paying him a reported $10 million+ for three fights in a 12 month period. The magic question is whether Broner will be expected to fight good opposition as part of his three-fight deal.

The 39-year-old Lundy (31-12-1, 14 KOs) is replacing Ivan Redkach, who reportedly pulled due to promotional issues. Lundy is a similar level opponent to the 36-year-old Redkach, so there’s virtually no drop-off in terms of talent.

Lundy has lost his last four fights and hasn’t won since 2020. Ten years ago, Lundy was a capable fringe contender at 135, but he’s been on a steep decline since 2014, losing repeatedly. Since 2018, things have gotten terrible for Lundy, with him losing six out of his last eight fights.

Hence, he’s getting the fight with Broner, who can’t afford to face anyone with a shred of ability right now because his career has sunk and is on its way to the bottom.

Broner 0-5 since 2017

Fortunately, Broner is in even worse shape, going 0-5 in his last five fights, if you include his three controversial matches against Adrian Granados, Jessie Vargas, and Jovanie Santiago as defeats, as they should be.

“I ain’t talking to Hank. He knows what’s at stake. He knows what he’s in for. I ain’t playing,” said Adrien Broner to ESNEWS when asked if he had a message for his February 25th opponent Hank Lundy.

“I ain’t playing with him. I like an early fight. That way, I can get out of the ring and get my check faster,” Broner said when told that Lundy is predicting that he’s going to knock him out in four or five rounds.

“You don’t get paid for overtime. I ain’t trying to throw no extra punches.

“It’s going to be star-studded for sure. It’s going to be a lot of people there. You know, Atlanta is like black Hollywood. There’s going to be a lot of people there. It’s going to be a hell of an event. You don’t want to miss this one,” said Broner about his fight with 39-year-old Lundy.
