Antoine Griezmann issued a spurring team talk at half-time of France’s 2-1 win over England in the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals.

The French star was in imperious form on Saturday evening, being the chief creator of the bulk of Les Bleus’ notable opportunities from his new attacking midfield role.

Griezmann would create the winning goal – scored by Olivier Giroud – with a fantastic cross from the left flank in the second half, but before that he also provided some motivation for his teammates in the dressing room too.

According L’Equipe, the 31-year-old said the following to his teammates: “We may never play for a World Cup semi-final again – we all want to live it. We can’t go home tonight guys, we have to do more.”

While Les Bleus would in fact lose their first half lead in the 54th minute courtesy of a Harry Kane penalty before retaking the lead in the 78th minute, and then watch Kane miss a second penalty shorty after.

The holders will now face off against Morocco – the first African nation to ever reach the final four – in the semi finals of the competition.
