The Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa started under the sign of Dean Burmester who, in front of his own fans, chases success in the DP World Tour tournament. In Malelane, with a first round in 65 (-7) shots, the result of eight birdies and a bogey, the world number 58 leads the way.
Behind him, the Austrian Lukas Nemecz, 2/o with 66 (-6). Battle for 3rd place shared, with a score of 67 (-5), by five players. Among them is Branden Grace, one of the favorites on the eve and winner of the competition in 2014.

On the Leopard Creek CC course (par 72), Edoardo Molinari’s race did not start in the best possible way. The only blue in the field, fresh from 9th place at the South African Open, the Turinese is 86th with 73 (+1) after a round with four bogeys and three birdies.
While the South African Thriston Lawrence, winner last week in Johannesburg and best rookie of the DP World Tour 2022, is 17th with 69 (-3). Louis Oosthuizen is instead 31st with 70 (-2). Major champion (he made him The Open in 2010), now plays permanently in LIV Golf, the Arab Super League.
