Coach Sascha Bajin comments on reuniting with Karolina Pliskova after short split

Coach Sascha Bajin is thrilled to be reuniting with Karolina Pliskova as he appeared to suggest that the Czech tennis star realized she made a mistake when she fired him in the summer. After Wimbledon, Pliskova announced she was no longer working with Bajin.

This Tuesday, Pliskova announced that she and Bajin have reunited. “Thank you for having me back. Let’s go get it,” Bajin said in his response to Pliskova’s tweet.

A tennis fan wanted to know more about the “thanks for having me back” part. “Takes a big person to admit something and can’t be easy to ask your old coach back.

For that I’m thankful yes,” Bajin wrote in another tweet.

Pliskova, Bajin set for their second stint

In 2020 November, Pliskova added Bajin to her coaching staff.

When Pliskova hired Bajin, her main goal was to win a maiden Grand Slam title. At 2021 Wimbledon, Pliskova made the final but fell just short of winning the title after losing to Ashleigh Barty in three sets. “I am returning mainly because I still believe I can help Carolina with my insights.

Her game has gradually improved since her hand injury and in my eyes she has proven that she can still compete with the best in the world. We will want to build on these performances and that is why we have decided to renew our connection!

I can’t wait to sit in her corner again,” Bajin said. After splitting with Bajin in the summer, Pliskova worked with coach Leos Friedl. Under the guidance of Friedl, Pliskova made the Toronto semifinal and US Open quarterfinal, respectively.

“Many thanks to Leos, who willingly started working with us immediately. I think that under his guidance we managed to get some interesting results,” Pliskova said. It remains to be seen if Bajin can guide Pliskova to a first Grand Slam title in 2023.
