Crawford Feels No Pressure To Bring A Lot Of PPV Buys For Avanesyan Fight

By Chris Williams: Terence Crawford says he feels no pressure to bring in a lot of pay-per-view buys for his fight on BLK Prime this Saturday against David Avanesyan to help increase his chances of negotiating a deal with Errol Spence.

Surprisingly, WBO welterweight champion Crawford (38-0, 29 KOs) fails to see the importance of his needing to bring in a ton of PPV buys against Avanesyan (29-3-1, 17 KO) in their match on BLK Prime PPV.

Does Crawford not get it? For him not to understand that he needs to bring in a massive number of buys against Avanesyan to get the deal he wants against Spence.

Assuming the Crawford-Avanesyan fight bombs badly in terms of the numbers, Crawford will be in a weakened position when he attempts to restart negotiations with Spence.

It’s likely that Crawford will never get a chance to fight Spence if his fight with Avanesyan brings in a PPV total of fewer than 50,000 buys because he’s not going to be able to negotiate a deal that he wants.

Crawford not worried about PPV buys

“I’m fully prepared for this fight, and it depends on what type of style he brings to the table. Come December 10th, it’s going to bring the best out of Terence Crawford,” said Crawford to Thaboxingvoice about his fight this weekend against David Avanesyan.

“I don’t think it falls on my shoulders at all,” said Crawford when asked if there’s pressure to bring in a lot of pay-per-view buys on BLK Prime for him to be in a better position to negotiate the Errol Spence Jr fight.

“BLK is new to the boxing world. This is the first step into the boxing game. You got to get your feet wet at some point, and they chose to get their feet wet with me just like ESPN chose to get their feet wet with me with the app.

“It’s very new to them, and we’re looking to go out there and do what we do best. That’s look good, get the victory, and hopefully, everything falls into place. “I can’t wait to go home and put on a great show.

“I actually only wanted one fight with Errol, but they came back with a rematch clause. If we split, it would be three fights with me and him,” said Crawford. “The only fight that was on the table was Spence.
