Coach Goran Ivanisevic thinks Novak Djokovic’s serve has been “very underestimated” because people “have so many other things” to talk about when it comes to the Serb’s game. Djokovic, who is one of the most complete players in tennis history, was serving great throughout the entire ATP Finals in Turin.
In the final at the ATP Finals, Djokovic defeated Casper Ruud 7-5 6-3. Djokovic was absolutely phenomenal against Ruud on his own serve as he didn’t allow a single break point to the Norwegian. After Djokovic captured his sixth ATP Finals title, Ivanisevic talked about the strength of Djokovic’s serve.

“His serve was very underestimated shot all through all career. If you look so many matches, five, 10 years ago, his serve always saved him somehow. But now he’s even better.
Now he always wants to improve. Especially this week, amazing percentage, amazing precision of the serve. Every time he needed, he hit unbelievable first serve. His second serve is much better. But his serve is one of the best shots which people, they don’t talk (about), because they have so many other things, they forget to talk about his serve.
He has one of the best serves. Especially when it’s tight, it’s tough, especially this week he was hitting unbelievable serve under pressure. But you can always improve. You can always go backwards. With the serve, it’s very tricky.
So far it’s working well. Especially this week. The court was a little faster, but still serve was working unbelievable,” Ivanisevic said, per Tennis Majors. Meanwhile, Djokovic has been allowed to return to Australia in 2023.
Djokovic will start the 2023 season at the Adelaide International, before he heads to Melbourne for the Australian Open. In Melbourne, Djokovic will be aiming to win a record 10th Australian Open title.
