Teofimo Lopez Sends Adrien Broner Motivational Message For His Comeback

By Dan Ambrose: Teofimo Lopez & his father, Teo Sr., sent a message of support to Adrien ‘The Problem’ Broner on social media today about his comeback.

The former four-division world champion Broner (34-4-1, 24 KOs) is returning to the ring soon as part of a three-fight, twelve-month, eight-figure deal with BLK Prime after being out of the ring for the last 21 months.

Broner, 33, says he’s got a “big announcement” that he plans on making during the Terence Crawford vs. David Avanesyan fight on December 10th in Omaha, Nebraska. Adrien says he’ll be attending the fight, and he’ll make his announcement at that time.

Given that Broner’s next fight will be on BLK Prime pay-per-view, it’s expected that he’ll be fighting a notable contender from the 140 or 147-lb division divisions.

For Broner to bring in a lot of PPV buys, he’ll need to face someone like Keith Thurman, Terence Crawford, Jose Ramirez, or Chris Colbert. Thurman (30-1, 22 KOs) would be the ideal opponent for Broner if  ‘One Time’ won’t be fighting Errol Spence Jr next, but that’s a fight that might be too costly for BLK Prime.

“AB, we can’t wait to see you do this now,” said Teofimo Lopez in a message of support on social media. “Let’s get it AB. Adrien Broner #1.”

“Come back, champ,” said Teofimo Sr to Broner.

“I’m coming to Terence Crawford’s fight in Nebraska [on December 1oth].  I’ve got a big announcement to make. I don’t think you want to miss this one. You better be there, BLK Prime.

With the huge money that Broner is getting for his three-fight deal with BLK Prime, they’ll likely go the cheap route with his next opponent rather than break the bank to find a popular fighter for him to face.

Even an old relic like ‘One Time’ Thurman might be out of the price range for a fight with Broner.

During the zenith of Broner’s career, he was considered the best at 130 and gained a lot of fame & fortune for his impressive knockouts and showmanship in that division.

Where things fell apart for Broner was in 2012, when he decided to move up to the welterweight division to take on the knockout artist Marcos Maidana.

The size & power of Maidana was too much for Broner, and AB ended up suffering a one-sided loss to the Argentinian. Unfortunately, Broner’s career never rebounded after that loss.
