Fury Says He’ll Slap Usyk For Calling Him A Drunk If He’s At Ringside Saturday

By Jack Tiernan: Tyson Fury says he might give Oleksandr Usyk a slap in the mouth if he attends his fight against Derek Chisora this Saturday night at Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium in London.

With Usyk’s faster hand speed and slickness, it might be a mistake for Fury to give him a slap this Saturday night. Usyk would likely counter Fury and make him regret having struck him.

Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) took offense to IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Usyk calling him a drunk recently.

The comment upset Fury enough to warn Usyk (20-0, 13 KOs) that he’ll give him a slap if he’s at ringside.

For Usyk, it’s probably not worth the trouble to come to London to sit in the audience because Fury says he’s only interested in taking the biggest money fight available for his next fight.

Usyk probably isn’t the biggest payday available for Fury if he successfully gets by Chisora (33-12, 23 KOs) on Saturday. Fury can likely make more money fighting Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, and Andy Ruiz Jr than he can against Usyk.

Some would argue that Usyk’s fighting style is all wrong for Fury, who has lost a few steps since he registered his best career win over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.

If Fury is going to beat Usyk, he’ll need to be quick on his feet and not the mauler he’s become due to age creeping in. The way Fury fights now works against stationary fighters like Dillian Whyte and Deontay Wilder, but probably not against a mover like Usyk.

Joe Joyce, Usyk, and even the improved Joshua will give Fury problems with their mobility and slickness.

If he comes to the fight, I promise you I’ll slap him in the mouth. Usyk called me a drunk recently, so I want to see what he’s got to say about the drink. I do drink, yes, of course. I’m a human,” said Tyson Fury to iFL TV.

“I love having a beer; who doesn’t? I’m not interested in the foreign tosser. No, he’s a s**t house,” said Fury when asked if he was interested in fighting Usyk. “He had the opportunity to fight for a lot of money. Sixty-five million dollars, and he didn’t take it.

“Whoever comes to fight will get a good hiding. They give me one, or I give them one. It doesn’t matter at this point in the career, anyway. I’m trying to be a journeyman now. I’ll keep going until I’m 55 years old.

“If he wants a good hiding again, he can get it too,” Fury said when asked if he’d be interested in fighting Deontay Wilder again. “He [Joe Joyce] can get a good hiding too. He [Daniel Dubois] can get it.

“To make it interesting, we can have a royal rumble, put a 100 million dollars up and the last man standing gets the lot.

“I don’t really care because it’s only the IBF title that I won’t box for anyway,” said Fury when told that Eddie Hearn said that his IBF mandatory Filip Hrgovic will block his fight against Usyk.

“The undisputed won’t be on the line for me because I won’t box for the IBF; that’s a fact. I won’t pay a sanctioning fee for the IBF. They robbed me unless they reimburse me from seven years ago the sanctioning fees I paid them, they’ll never ever get to put a red belt on the Gypsy King.

“Four days, I think,” said Fury when asked how quickly the IBF stripped him of his title with their organization in 2015 after he won the belt from Wladimir Klitschko. “Four or five days, they stripped me, and guess what? They didn’t pay my money back.

“So whoever’s at the end of the thing, they own me sanctioning fees. It used to be Darryl Peoples. Darryl, give me my money back, b**ch, or else there will be no undisputed on the line for your s**t belt.

“I’ve got no interest in him,” said Fury about a fight with Anthony Joshua. “Like I said, if they want to fight, bring them to the table, get the checkbook out, put it on the line, and then we fight. If not, f**k off. There’s not much else to be said, really. I’m very contradictive. Nobody believes what I say anyway.

“Maybe none or maybe 10,” said Fury about how many fights he wants in 2023. “I might retire after Chisora, and that’s a fact. That’s how I feel anyway. I might do [carry on].

“All these men, I don’t care who it is; one thing I’ll say is, whoever I can get the most money for my next fight, that’s who I’ll fight. If I have to fight a middleweight to do that or a light heavyweight, whoever it is, I’ll fight them because at this level now, the big fights, what are we boxing for?

“Whatever the biggest money is, that’s where we’ll go,” said Fury when asked who he’ll face next. “If somebody wants to pay me an obscene amount of money to box someone, then it’s game on.

“I’ll do what the rest couldn’t do, I’ll knock him out,” said Fury about the 38-year-old Chisora. “I’m on a three-knockout winning spree, and I intend on knocking him out.

“He’s had more miles on the clock than he did before, and he’d had more fights and taken more punishment,” said Fury when asked what’s different about Chisora than when he fought him in 2014. “I think he’s a different fighter today.

“He managed to get a victory over Pulev, so I’m proud of what he did. Anything can happen in there. I’m not underestimating Derek. I’ve done nine weeks of training camp for him. I’ve really put the work in, so I’m looking forward to the fight.

“I’ll continue until I’ve tarnished my record and I’ve had 15 or 20 losses. I’ll probably retire when I’m 45 years old. Hopefully, it’ll be enough and one day I’ll be fulfilled.

“I’ve always said that I’ll keep boxing until I become a journeyman and I probably will,” said Fury.
