Did the Bills make it to Detroit? Bills Mafia shoveling snow, helping Buffalo reach Browns game

The snow in Buffalo has caused major issues not just for the city hosting the Bills vs. Browns game, but even just getting to the airport. The airport was closed for some time on Saturday, and major snowfall in the roads provided challenges for residents to even leave their homes.

But the Bills have a game in Detroit on Sunday, and need to get to Michigan in time for the game. And like everyone else, the players were going to have some challenges getting to the airport with the conditions.

Enter Bills Mafia to the rescue. Fans were spotted helping players by shoveling snow, reminiscient of their rescue efforts in 2014 when some residents drove players in snowmobiles to help them get to the game in Detroit.

Here’s the latest heroic efforts by Bills Mafia for its team.

Did the Bills make it to Detroit?

Against all odds, the Bills are going to be arriving in Detroit on time on Saturday. They arrived at the airport, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, and are expected to fly out around 4 p.m. ET.

But that wouldn’t have been possible without the snow shoveling of Bills Mafia. Players shared videos of fans digging the team out of their homes so they could get to the airport without a problem.

And it wasn’t just the fans trying to help the players get out of town. Even team COO Ron Raccuia was doing his part to try and get the players out, driving around to pick players up.

Buffalo weather updates

There was plenty made of whether it was the right call to move the Bills’ game out of Buffalo. But as of Saturday, it’s hard to see anyway that game could have been played at Highmark Stadium.

According to CNN, snow exceeded 77 inches — 6 feet, 5 inches, or one Josh Allen — at Orchard Park, home of Highmark Stadium, and photos certainly showed just how much of a problem the snow is in Buffalo.

The National Weather Service reported snow showers are likely to continue through Sunday evening.
