Shakur Stevenson vs. Robson Conceicao live fight updates, results, highlights from 2022 boxing fight

The time for talking is over. Shakur Stevenson is ready to put on a show in front of family and friends inside New Jersey’s Prudential Center. Stevenson faces off against Robson Conceicao on September 23.

Stevenson was set to defend the WBC, WBO, and The Ring junior-lightweight titles, but was stripped of the belts when he missed weight for the fight. Only Conceicao can win the belts.

Stevenson made his pro debut in 2017. He won the WBO featherweight title in 2019 against Joet Gonzalez. Moving divisions, Stevenson won the interim WBO junior-lightweight title against Jeremiah Nakathila in 2021. Later that year, he beat Jamel Herring to become the regular champion.

In his last fight in April, Stevenson beat Oscar Valdez via unanimous decision to win the WBC and The Ring junior-lightweight titles.

“I’m not really focused on the pressure,” Stevenson said at the pre-fight news conference. “I don’t care about all that. I’m really focused on putting in the work on Friday night. I’m just ready to fight at the end of the day. … I never leave it in the hands of the judges. I go in there and take everything that I want.”

Conceicao lost to Valdez for the WBC title in 2021 in a fight he believes he won. He considers himself the uncrowned champion and looks to prove that he should be the one holding gold.

“I’m very motivated,” Conceicao said. “I’ve trained all my life for this moment. The world was able to see that I was better than Oscar Valdez. I should have won. So, he’s not really defending two titles because one should have been mine. I’m a champion without a crown, and I’m ready for Friday night.”

The Sporting News will provide updates from the fight in New Jersey.
