It was February 2, 2004 when the Swiss champion conquered the top of the ranking for the first time ever, the twenty-third in the history of tennis. The day after the victory of the Australian Open, won against Marta Safin, the first page of history and a domination was written, which would last until August 17, 2008.
For more than four years, the Swiss champion has never abandoned the throne he had won: in the meantime, two titles in Australia, four Wimbledon and three US Open; the latter two Grand Slams also won consecutively.
