Victoria Azarenka congratulated Iga Swiatek on winning the US Open and encouraged Ons Jabeur to keep her head up as she is confident it’s just a matter of time before the Tunisian becomes a Grand Slam champion. On Saturday, Swiatek handed Jabeur a 6-2 7-6 (5) loss in the US Open final.

Swiatek is now a three-time Grand Slam champion and owns a 7-7 record in finals this year. On the other side, 28-year-old Jabeur fell just short of winning her first Grand Slam and becoming the first Arab with a Major title.

“Congratulations to @iga_swiatek and her team for remarkable achievement and year!” Azarenka tweeted.

In another tweet, Azarenka wrote: “Ons you are the best for me @Ons_Jabeur.

Your hard work will pay off to lift the trophy soon enough!!!”

Jabeur thinks she is not done facing Swiatek

Following her latest victory, Swiatek owns a 3-2 head-to-head versus Jabeur.

Earlier this year, Swiatek defeated Jabeur 6-2 6-2 in the Rome final. Jabeur has suffered two tough losses against Swiatek this year, but she feels she will get her chances for revenge over the Pole. “Yeah, definitely we’ll play each other because she’s No.

1, I’m No. 2. Hopefully it will be great matches between us. She improved a lot I think her forehand and her serve. She’s always been solid in the backhand. That’s kind of tough. Physically she’s everywhere. She can bring any ball.

It’s always tough to play someone that puts one more shot in,” Jabeur said. “Yeah, we’ll play each other in the Finals, I think so. Maybe we’ll be different groups. I don’t know. But, yeah, catching up in the ranking, I know she has a lot of defending points, I have none.

That’s kind of the goal.” Losing the US Open final was especially tough for Jabeur, who has now ended runner-up in back-to-back Grand Slams.
