Chelsea returned to winning ways against Leicester on Saturday afternoon, although it wasn’t the comfiest of victories for manager Thomas Tuchel.

The Blues won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge thanks to a brace from new signing Raheem Sterling, despite Conor Gallagher being dismissed in the first half for picking up two yellow cards. The Foxes did get on level terms through Harvey Barnes, but they couldn’t hold on.

The result leaves Chelsea sixth in the Premier League, five points behind early pacesetters Arsenal. Saturday’s win wasn’t the only eventful thing to happen at Stamford Bridge over the weekend, with two other big stories emerging. Here are the latest headlines.

Gallagher says sorry

Gallagher has apologised to Chelsea’s staff, players and fans for his red card against Leicester. The England international was given his marching orders by referee Paul Tierney just 28 minutes into the game and Tuchel has let the 22-year-old know his thoughts.

“Today he is responsible for what he did,” Tuchel after the game. “Of course, he knows it was a huge mistake. We spoke briefly after the game and things like this can happen.

“At the end of this chain is a decision that brings such a huge disadvantage after 25 minutes. It’s a very, very bad decision from Conor and, of course, he is upset. Everybody was upset in this moment because it almost kills the whole football match.”

Gallagher wrote on Instagram : “Proud of the team for digging deep today and winning with 10 men. Personally, I want to apologise to my teammates, staff and the fans. I take full responsibility for the rash decision leaving them with a huge challenge for the rest of the game. Thankfully, they came through.”

Ball boy has £40m empire

Remember when Eden Hazard kicked a ball boy? If not, we’ll remind you.

Back in January 2013, Chelsea were playing Swansea at the Liberty Stadium. Rafa Benitez’s side were losing 2-0 on aggregate in the EFL Cup tie, with a place in the final at stake. After the ball went out of play for a goal kick, Hazard tried to get it off the ball boy, 17.

In an incident that remains as shocking as ever, Hazard kicked the ball out of the youngster’s hands. He was shown a straight red card and apologised afterwards. The ball boy was later named as Charlie Morgan and his 15 minutes of fame was soon over as Hazard became one of the biggest footballers in Europe, later joining Real Madrid.

Although Morgan is no longer in the spotlight, he is enjoying plenty of success. The now 26-year-old is the owner of a business empire worth £40million and has a list of celebrity clients – including Floyd Mayweather, Ronaldinho and Paddy Pimblett.

Kalidou Koulibaly is selling video messages to fans for £64 a pop, despite earning £162,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge. The 31-year-old defender completed a summer transfer from Napoli to Chelsea, replacing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen at the back.

Koulibaly isn’t the only footballer or ex-footballer to sell videos, with the likes of Michael Owen and Matt Le Tissier also charging fans for personalised content. The Chelsea centre-back doesn’t need the money and sells the videos just for a bit of fun.

A source exclusively told The Mirror: “Kalidou doesn’t need the money – far from it. He makes an absolute fortune. This is just a bit of fun. He finds time to talk to his fans directly between his busy schedule of training and matches – and they don’t mind stumping up.

“It is also a great way to build your brand off the pitch – and we all know a footballer’s career doesn’t last forever. It’s win win.”
