Ex-Man United chief executive David Gill tells court ‘you could trust what Giggs said’

The court is hearing a written statement from David Gill, the former chief executive of Manchester United.

He says he first met Ryan Giggs when he began working with the club in 1997.

Mr Gill says he has seen Giggs “in different social situations” and he is a “very likeable man”.

He describes Giggs as “well mannered and very professional” 

Mr Gill mentions that Giggs has the record for the most appearances at Manchester United. 

He says he found Giggs to be “intelligent”, “always very polite” and “honest”, adding: “You could trust what he said”.

Mr Gill says Giggs has a “pleasant sense of humour” and a “competitive nature”.

He adds that the former footballer was “hard-working” and “dedicated” as he overcame hamstring problems during his playing career.
