Tyson Fury flies to Spain hours before Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury was paying little attention to Anthony Joshua’s rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night as he and his dad flew to Mallorca.

Joshua and Usyk were preparing to clash for a second time in 11 months as they took to the ring in Saudi Arabia. Fury, who claims to be retired, took a flight to the Spanish island where he will continue his promotional tour on Sunday night in what will be his first public appearance since his two rivals met for a second time.

Fury, who still holds the WBC heavyweight world title, first announced his retirement following his seventh-round stoppage win over Dillian Whyte at Wembley in April. He has flip-flopped over his future ever since, revealing last week that he wanted to fight Derek Chisora for a third time.

Fury claims to have offered Chisora £2million for the trilogy fight having already beaten the Londoner in 2011 and 2014. Chisora dismissed those claims and Fury later announced his retirement for the umpteenth time. The giant Traveller did at least relinquish his Ring magazine belt which was then put on the line in Saudi Arabia

He also has just a week to decide whether to relinquish his world title after the WBC handed him a deadline of next Friday to consider his future. Fury is widely expected to call out the winner of Joshua’s clash with Usyk for a fight which would crown the first undisputed heavyweight world champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.

Fury has also flirted with competing in exhibition bouts and claimed a deal was close with strongman Thor Bjornsson. A November bout at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium was mooted and Fury even flew to Iceland to confront his rival – only to discover Bjornsson was in Rome.

Fury also tried to grab attention earlier on Saturday when he took to social media to hit out at promoter Eddie Hearn – and the Sky Sports boxing team. “The funniest thing I have seen in a long time is how the whole of Matchroom, Eddie Hearn and the whole of Sky, Adam Smith, Johnny Nelson and everybody are all at each others throats,” he said.

“This is because they have all split up and they are arguing like cat and mouse, they are all arguing like a lot of children and once upon a time they were all stuck up each others a****. And now if they had anything on each other they would be grassing each other up like little b*****. I have never seen anything like it in my life.

“All of you ought to be ashamed of yourselves you little p****holes, no loyalty in the game and it is all about who can get what. What a load of suckers and you should just be called idiots.”
