After arriving at the Cincinnati Masters tournament, Rafael Nadal posted a picture from a training court through which he shared his feelings of being at the American event. “Nice to be here. Thanks,” Nadal captioned his newest post on the social media platform Instagram.

Earlier this month, Rafael Nadal also posted a video of him training for Cincinnati.

He posted it after he confirmed his participation. Following social confirmation, the first footage of training in a US city arrives: the final stage before the US Open. Watch the short video of the training session here: Rafael Nadal trains in Cincinnati!

Nadal landed in Cincinnati on Thursday and on the practice court on Friday, working out with Holger Rune, a young gun. Nadal will return to Cincinnati for the first time since 2017, looking for his second victory since his historic run in 2013.

The Spaniard will strive to improve his condition in Ohio ahead of the US Open, where he will compete for his 23rd Major title.

Rafael Nadal can return to no.1 in Cincinnati

Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Major champion, might become world number one after Cincinnati.

If Rafa wins in Cincinnati and Daniil Medvedev fails to make the quarter-finals, Rafa will be crowned as ATP champion for the first time since February 2020. On the live ranking list, Medvedev presently has 6535 ATP points, while Nadal has 5630.

If the Spaniard wins his second Cincinnati title, he will be on 6620. The Russian must reach the quarter-finals to maintain his lead and be the top seed at the US Open. Rafa could not have imagined reaching world number one a year ago, when he was recovering from a foot injury and played only two matches following Roland Garros.

With no idea what to anticipate in 2022, Nadal had one of his best seasons ever, winning three consecutive titles and reaching the final in Indian Wells.
