helsea have had another bid for Anthony Gordon worth £45million rejected by Everton.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of Thomas Tuchel’s primary targets to strengthen his attack at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea have now seen offers rebuffed on consecutive days.

Everton insist that Gordon is not for sale but others close to the situation believe a further bid of £50m could provide the basis for a breakthrough in talks.

Manager Frank Lampard is one of the forces at Goodison Park who is resisting a move with his attack already threadbare and the England Under-21 international integral to his plans to avoid relegation.

However, a larger bid could convince Everton to accept and help them reinvest in several attackers, with a lack of strikers currently hindering the club following another serious injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

For Chelsea, Gordon is attractive due to his ability to produce high-intensity running and a belief that he can slot easily into Tuchel’s system.

They also think that he could play as both a winger and a wing-back, covering two areas of the pitch that might need improving.

Chelsea’s approach for Gordon comes after the Stamford Bridge outfit have spent £165m on five players this summer, with moves for Leicester’s Wesley Fofana and Inter Milan’s Cesare Casadei also being worked on.

They are also interested in Barcelona duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Frenkie de Jong, with Inter’s Denzel Dumfries and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters among the other options considered at wing-back.
