Seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams has named Serena Williams as the player from whom she has learned the most about tennis. On Thursday, Venus held a question and answer session with fans through the EleVen by Venus Williams Instagram account.

In 2006, Venus launched a women-only clothing brand and often holds a Q&A with fans through the brand’s Instagram account. According to Sportskeeda, one of the questions Venus received was for her to name the player she has learned the most from.

“You know it’s @serenawilliams. But I love watching others and learning from all the players,” Venus wrote on her Instagram story, according to Sportskeeda. This week, Venus Williams played her first singles tournament in 12 months at the Citi Open in Washington.

In the first round in Washington, Williams suffered a three-set loss as Rebecca Marino defeated the seven-time Grand Slam champion 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. “Yes, it’s my first match, so I don’t think I’ve played well many times.

It was a bit rusty. I also got into good positions in the third set. I was just trying to shake off the rust. It was expected. All I can do is play another tournament and play better,” Williams said after the loss. Williams, making his Washington debut, led 4-1 in the third set before dropping the final five games of the match.

“Yes, it’s a lot of fun. I wish I could have pulled this match off for the crowd and for the tournament. But it doesn’t always go well. A great reaction. DC is a great place to play tennis, and Mark does an amazing job with the tournament.

Yeah, it was a lot of fun playing in DC. It was nice to have the crowd behind me.”

What’s next for Serena Williams?

After winning her first match in over a year on Monday in the first round of the WTA 1000 in Toronto, Serena Williams, who is on the cover of the new Vogue magazine, posted a message on her Instagram account in which she announces that she will indeed retire during this 2022 season without revealing a precise date.

“There comes a time in life when you have to decide to take another direction. This moment is always difficult when you love something so much. My God, I love tennis. But now the countdown has begun. I have to focus on my role as a mom, my spiritual goals and finally discover a different, but equally exciting Serena. I will savor these next few weeks.”
