Baseball’s future will be on display at South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, for one of the sport’s most cherished events. The Little League World Series is back and primed to be unlike any of its predecessors.
The 2022 Little League World Series is the 75th edition of the competition. The tournament will now feature 20 teams, expanded from the 16-team format it has used for much of its existence.
This year’s tournament is significant for another reason. The COVID-19 pandemic canceled the event in 2020, while only American teams competed in the LLWS in 2021. But this year, fans will be able to see the next generation of young talent cropping up from countries all across the world, including Japan and Mexico, among other countries.
All of that is to say, it should be an enthralling competition. And with fans back in the stands once more — they, too, missed out on last year’s proceedings due to COVID-19 — the magic of Williamsport should be a little more palpable this time around.
