American political consultant defends Novak Djokovic

Even Ivan Lendl, one of the best players in the history of tennis, has his opinion on the unresolved and endless question of the GOAT. The Czech-born former tennis player, who dominated the ATP tour in the late 1980s with eight Grand Slam titles to his name and an impressive 270 weeks at the top of the rankings, is probably one of the people who better and more he knows how to give an opinion on the subject.

The one who was Andy Murray’s coach for many years made statements about it to the Eurosport microphones, admitting that the case of the vaccine that affects Novak Djokovic could greatly influence the final sentence. “The fight for the GOAT title is a bit influenced by political decisions on the issue of vaccination,” Lendl warned.

At the moment, as far as the Majors are concerned, the greatest record is that of Nadal, whose exploits in 2022 have led him to win 22 Grand Slam trophies, compared to 21 for Nole and 20 for Roger Federer, who has a year in the pits.

Djokovic holds the Masters 1000 record, 38 to Nadal’s 36, and also the number of weeks at the top of the ATP rankings, with the Swiss second and Rafa far behind. While the Spaniard, unlike the Belgrader, can also boast an Olympic gold in singles, the ATP Finals are still missing in the record, while Djokovic can boast up to five, with Federer in six.

The former ’80s star went on to say: “If Novak Djokovic will have won more Slam titles by the end of his career than anyone else despite the non-vaccination problem, we will have the answer. On the other hand, if Rafa Nadal wins another title, he will have to answer the question of the vaccine and the impact on Nole’s career.”

The native of Ostrava, a nationalized American since 1992, therefore seems to have sided with the Serb in the fight for the title of best player in the history of tennis.

Blair Brandt reflects on Djokovic

American tennis players have come under criticism from Blair Brandt for not withdrawing from the US Open until Novak Djokovic is given the go-ahead to compete.

“If American tennis players truly wanted to make a statement, they would all bow out of the US Open until Djokovic can play. Tyranny against one person is a threat to all people, ” Brandt tweeted. Following the Serb’s withdrawal, his arch-rival Rafael Nadal also announced that he was pulling out of the tournament.
