Emma Raducanu reveals one thing she has started enjoying on court lately

Emma Raducanu revealed she now enjoys getting herself out of tough position and overcoming challenges as she feels those experiences can only help her in the long run. On Thursday, Raducanu clinched a hard-fought 7-6 (5) 7-6 (4) victory over Camila Osorio in Washington.

The match lasted two hours and 50 minutes and now it’s the longest two-set WTA match in 2022. The temperatures were around 36C and Raducanu had to overcome more than just a tough opponent. “Right now, I most enjoy the challenge of continuously coming back and getting back up.

Getting yourself out of rock bottom, really, a lot of times repetitively, I think it’s a fun challenge and I think I have twisted my perception of it. I’m not viewing it as a negative thing anymore. I’m just seeing, ‘okay, like the cards are not great right now, but what can I do to turn it around?’ Then the reward that you feel after a win, knowing that you have come through that, it means a lot more,” Raducanu said, per Sportskeeda.

Raducanu didn’t let Osorio come back and force a third set

Raducanu appeared to be in full control of the first set as she had an early 4-1 lead, but then Osorio claimed back-to-back breaks and won the next four games to open a 5-4 lead.

Just when it seemed Osorio would win the first set, the Colombian missed out on two set points on her serve in the 10th game and Raducanu forced a tie-break. In the tie-break, Raducanu was 3-5 down before winning the next four points and stealing the first set from Osorio.

After winning the second set, Raducanu had a 4-2 second-set lead and three consecutive break points. At that point, it seemed the match was over, but Osorio stormed back and somehow forced another tie-break. However, failing to close out the match earlier didn’t impact Raducanu, who realized her first match point in the tie-break to complete a straight-set win.
