Venus Williams is 42 year-old and she hasn’t played a singles match since August of last year. This week Venus Williams announced her comeback for the upcoming Washington and Toronto tournaments. The tournament in the American capital will take place on August 1st with Williams playing their first singles tournament after twelve months.

Subsequently the tennis player should take the court for the Toronto tournament. In Canada, the presence of Venus’ sister Serena Williams was also confirmed. Tournament Director Karl Hale released recent comments on the matter: “We are thrilled to see both Venus and Serena Williams participate in this year’s National Bank Open.

They are two tennis players who have meant a lot to our sport and their presence is essential for the fans, for the tournament staff and for other players. They are two of the greatest tennis players in history and we can’t wait to see them at work in Toronto.”

Venus actually participated in the last edition of the Wimbledon tournament, but only for the mixed doubles category. The organizers had no problem releasing a mixed doubles wild card for the duo of Venus Williams and Jamie Murray.

The two reached the round of 16 of the tournament and then yielded to Alicia Barnett and Johnny O’Mara.

During a recent live Instagram Venus answered a series of questions from fans and in particular she revealed an interesting curiosity. A fan asked the tennis player which tennis players she would have dinner with and she Venus named the three players with whom she has a great relationship between the men’s and women’s Tours.

Here are her words: “I choose Serena Williams, Reilly Opelka and Grigor Dimitrov. I’m sorry, I can only choose these and they are the people I am most attached to on the Tour.” Venus and Serena will be among the most awaited stars in this US hard-court swing.
