Texas Senator Drew Springer has urged US President Joe Biden to react and allow Novak Djokovic to compete at the US Open. Recently, the US authorities relaxed some of his measures against COVID-19. Still, people entering the country have to show proof of vaccination.

Djokovic has not been vaccinated against COVID-19 and has stressed that he does not plan to be vaccinated in the near future. That said, Djokovic is likely to miss the US Open. “Biden bans Novak Djokovic from coming to the US to play the US Open but allows millions of unvaccinated illegals to cross the border,” US Senator Springer wrote on Twitter.

“Hey Joe, what’s one more unvaccinated person?! #LetNovakPlay #txlege #USOpen” On Wednesday, Djokovic inaugurated two tennis courts at the Visoko Archaeological Park (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Following the special ceremony, Djokovic spoke to reporters and stressed that he will not try to force him into the United States next month.

“I’m not going to go to the United States if I don’t have permission, so the Australian saga for me was not pleasant at all,” Djokovic said. Furthermore, Djokovic noted that he intends to play only where he is allowed to compete.

“I’m a professional tennis player, I don’t get into politics or anything because that doesn’t interest me,” he said. “I have my position and I am in favor of the freedom to choose the best for one.

Mark Petchey talks about Djokovic

Former tennis player, commentator, and coach Mark Petchey weighed in on the Wimbledon final between Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios. “It had everything that we wanted, I think it had a pretty, to be honest, a pretty focused Nick as well, I think he came out of the blocks incredibly calm, given the fact that it’s his first major final and obviously I think you always have to remember this is the surface that he obviously feels as though he’s got the best of winning a major on, also with that comes a little pressure, because he’s not necessarily going to get that many shots at other majors,” Petchey said.

He also commended Novak Djokovic for his ability to come back from a set down and win the title. “It also showed us Novak’s ability to come back from a set down in a major final as well, I know he’s lost a couple from being a set up against Stan Wawrinka, but he’s also incredible fortitude over the years and to come back from a set down when others perhaps were panicking, and he never panicked once, I mean against that sort of relentless serving from nick, you know that’s not easy to do.”
