Three security guards protecting the Wimbledon grounds got into a brawl on Friday, the day when Novak Djokovic met Cameron Norrie in the semifinals, as reported by The Guardian. The fight started after one of the security guards accused another one of taking a three-hour-long break.

The altercation was interrupted by the Metropolitan police. Ironically, a fan was heard saying: “Someone call security!” “Security services at the tournament have been provided by Carlisle Security Services and Knights Group Security since 2020.

Knights Group Security provide security managers and safety stewards inside the tournament’s grounds,” notes The Guardian. According to their website, Knights Group Security have been “established for over 25 years, Knight Security Group provides unrivalled security solutions to wealthy individuals for their personal and business needs — in their homes, at work and while travelling”.

Also, the security firm claims that they are “are recognized as being among the top 5% of security firms in our market in the UK and have an outstanding reputation for our expertise, excellence in service and responsiveness”.

“We have also been recognised as having the fastest average response times to our clients’ alarms in our region,” KGS writes. “One of our proudest recent achievements is being selected as the first private security company to work alongside the government and medical staff in protection of the British Royal Family during the birth of Princess Charlotte at the Lindo Wing, receiving a letter of appreciation for our ‘significant contribution’,” the security firms also says on their website.

What did the police say

The Metropolitan police described the event shortly after the altercation. “At 2pm on Friday, 1 July, officers on duty at the Wimbledon tennis championships were alerted to an altercation within the grounds.

Officers attended and three men working at the event were arrested on suspicion of affray. There were no reports of any injuries. They were taken into custody and were later bailed until a date in late July,” said a Met police spokesman as quoted by The Guardian.
