I will always be able to play golf ” These are Woods’ statements towards The Open, the fourth and last Major of the season which will see the Californian among the most anticipated protagonists in St. Andrews.

On the morning of Tuesday, February 23, 2021, as Tiger Woods drove down a county road, steep in profile and with wide lanes allowing a speed of 45 mph (72 km/h)180, Mistaking the brake pedal and the accelerator pedal, he travels at a speed of 84 to 87 miles per hour — about 140 km/h — a dangerous speed given the road conditions and the cornering181.
He lost control of his vehicle which crossed a central reservation, rolled over several times and ended up near the dual carriageway he was using. Luckily, no oncoming vehicle was hit. The accident occurred around 7:12 a.m. (PST) at Rolling Hills Estates north of the Palos Verdes Peninsula in Los Angeles County with a Courtesy Vehicle Genesis GV80 that he was driving alone and had for the week182.
The crash site is located at 26475 County Route N7 (33°47’09″N 118°21’53″W). Rescued from the vehicle by the emergency services, he suffered serious leg injuries and had to be admitted to the Cedars-Sinai medical center in Los Angeles183 for an emergency operation184,185.
