Six-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic said he was glad with the performance he delivered versus Thanasi Kokkinakis as he felt he was able to execute his game plan. On Wednesday, Djokovic saw off Kokkinakis 6-1 6-4 6-2 to progress into the Wimbledon third round.

Djokovic was returning well as he earned 13 break points and broke Kokkinakis five times en route to clinching a comfortable straight-set win. Djokovic faced only one break point during the match and was able to save it.

“I’m very happy with my performance today,” Djokovic said in his on-court interview, per the ATP website. “I thought I started off very well, very solid from the back of the court, made him work for every point that I managed to get his serve back in play.

I tried to work him around the court, bring a lot of variety in the game. It was not easy to serve because of the wind, it was very swirly today on the court, so tough to toss the ball. But I think from my side overall, a really high-quality performance and I’m very pleased”.

Djokovic thought he performed better than in the first round

In his Wimbledon opener, Djokovic survived a scare as he needed four sets to beat Sonwoo Kwon 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-4. On Wednesday, Djokovic looked much better better and far more convincing.

“I must say that I’m quite pleased with the way that I raised the level of tennis in two days,” said Djokovic. “Hopefully I can keep that trajectory, keep getting better as the tournament progresses.

I’m obviously just thinking about the next challenge and hopefully things will get better and better”. Djokovic plays next fellow compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic. Djokovic and Kecmanovic will be going head-to-head for the third time when they meet at Wimbledon. Djokovic has a 2-0 head-to-head record versus Kecmanovic and he is the favorite to win their third meeting.
