Seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams is thrilled to see her sister Serena returning to action. On Tuesday, the WTA Instagram account shared a photo of Serena Williams from Eastbourne and captioned it, “Guess who is back?” Venus Williams shared the post to her Instagram story and captioned it, “The boss is back in town @serenawilliams.”

Serena Williams made a winning return as she and her partner Ons Jabeur beat Marie Bouzkova and Sara Sorribes Tormo 2-6 6-3 13-11 in their Eastbourne doubles opener. Williams, 40, and 27-year-old Jabeur were playing their first match as a pair.

“It was so fun to play with Ons,” Williams said on court after the win. “It was great, we had a lot of fun, and our opponents played amazing! We were just trying to stay in there after the first set.” Jabeur added: “It was so much fun.

I was a little bit nervous before, playing with such a legend, but she made me really good on the court, and even when I made mistakes, she’d keep encouraging me.”

Venus Williams won’t compete at Wimbledon but her sister Serena will

Last week, Serena Williams accepted a main draw wildcard into Wimbledon.

Tennis fans immediately reached out to Venus Williams on Instagram, asking her if she would do the same. Unfortunately, Venus Williams confirmed she does not plan on competing at Wimbledon this year. “No I’m not playing but I’ll be watching, I’ll be watching Serena,” Venus Williams said on Instagram.

After seeing the reaction from her fans, Venus Williams said she hopes having Serena Williams at Wimbledon will at least help a little bit. “Thank you so much, I’ve been getting a lot of encouraging messages like this and I hope though that Serena playing at Wimbledon will help you with your Williams fix,” Venus Williams said.
