Mikel Arteta could put a halt on plans to pursue the signing of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans this summer.

Reports suggest Arsenal’s interest in Tielemans has ‘cooled’ with the club yet to sign the striker the Gunners boss craves. Having welcomed Sao Paulo wonderkid Marquinhos and Porto playmaker Fabio Vieira to the Emirates so far this summer, the club may now move to prioritise using the remaining transfer kitty to bring in a new forward.

The name thought to be at the top of Mikel Arteta’s wishlist is Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus, and the Gunners’ contract offer to the Brazilian has now been revealed. And the Gunners may then try and tempt Juventus into parting ways with midfielder Adrien Rabiot in a player swap deal.

Here are Mirror Football’s latest Arsenal headlines.

Arteta changes midfield transfer plan

Arsenal have reportedly ‘cooled’ their interest in signing Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans, and Mikel Arteta could place his faith in a young member of his squad instead.

The Gunners have been on the lookout for fresh options in the middle of the park this summer but having already signed Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira, Arteta may be forced to make do with the resources already at his disposal with the club likely needing to spend big to secure a new forward. That could lead to the Arsenal boss putting his faith in Albert Sambi Lokonga – who was once dubbed “the new Yaya Toure” by Vincent Kompany.

The new Burnley boss says the midfielder “will never hide away from his responsibilities” as he predicted a big future for the young star – and Arteta may now be hoping that predictions comes true if he can’t sign Tielemans.

Rabiot targeted

Arsenal could reportedly offer Juventus Hector Bellerin in an attempt to bring in Adrien Rabiot in a player swap move.

With the Gunners facing being priced out of a move for top target Youri Tielemans, a swap deal for Rabiot could make sense as it would involve little money changing hands. Bellerin is also thought to be on his way out of the club this summer following his loan spell at Real Betis last season.

But Arsenal would face competition to sign Rabiot, with Manchester United also reportedly interested in the Frenchman.

Jesus contract offer revealed

Gabriel Jesus could reportedly earn around £264,000-a-week if he secures his move from Manchester City to Arsenal this summer.

Mikel Arteta has made the Brazilian his top target to fill the void left by the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette. A contract offer is now believed to be on the table worth around £13.8m – and that figure could rise to around £14.7m if Arsenal secure Champions League qualification.

The Gunners have a long way to go in order to persuade Manchester City to sell Jesus, however, with their opening offer of £35million having already been rejected.
