Sadio Mane has been back in his home town of Bambali in Senegal after spending almost £750,000 on new buildings including a hospital, school, post office and petrol station.

The 30-year-old has played his final game for Liverpool with the forward set to join Bayern Munich in a deal worth around £35million. Mane won the Premier League, Champions League, Carabao Cup and the FA Cup during his time at the Reds, scoring over 100 goals in the process.

Now, with Mane shortly expected to complete a medical with Bayern, the Senegal international will be looking to win more trophies in Germany. He is set to join a side which lifted their eighth successive Bundesliga title at the end of last season but struggled in Europe.

In the meantime, Mane returned to his native country last week to play in a football match alongside former Premier League stars Papiss Cisse and El-Hadji Diouf. Mane also visited the £455,000 hospital he funded in 2021, which serves 34 nearby villages.

Mane has also built a £250,000 secondary school in Bambali, which has a population of over 2,000 people and could develop into a town thanks to his investment. The former Southampton star was filmed opening a brand new fuel station and has already pledged funds to build a post office, which would help further grow the village.

This is not the only type of generosity Mane has given back to his country, with the winger providing each family in the village with a monthly €70 (£57) support package. He also offered €400 (£326) to the best achieving students at Bambali High School.

Different electronic devices have been provided such as laptops, while 4G internet has been installed to ensure children can use data in and out of school.

Mane started his professional career at Metz and earned himself a move to Red Bull Salzburg in January 2013. He scored 31 goals in 63 appearances for the Austrian side before signing for Southampton two years later.

It is safe to say the Senegal winger quickly adapted to life in England and impressed for Saints as they finished in sixth – their highest-ever Premier League finish. In 2016, Liverpool decided to sign Mane and the player later forged a brilliant attacking trio alongside Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah. He ends his time at Anfield with 120 goals in 269 appearances.
