Before the COVID-19 pandemic, All Elite Wrestling’s relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling was rumored to have been a fruitful one. But the pandemic delayed a partnership beyond talent swaps as a result of restrictions. Now that restrictions have been lifted, both promotions are ready to put on a show wrestling fans will never forget.

On June 26, AEW and NJPW will present the Forbidden Door pay-per-view. Inside the United Center in Chicago, the first co-promoted event between NJPW and AEW will take place.

The main event will see Jon Moxley face NJPW Ace Hiroshi Tanahashi for the interim AEW World Title. This comes after CM Punk, the AEW World Champion, had to be taken off the event because of an injury. Tanahashi is a former multi-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and one of the top stars of NJPW. Moxley was the second-ever AEW World Champion.

A new title will be introduced at the event, as four competitors duke it out to determine who will be the AEW All-Atlantic Champion. Three men will be from AEW while the final competitor will represent New Japan.
