Bournemouth Premier League fixtures: Full schedule, dates, times, predictions for the 2022/23 EPL season

With club and manager having a point to prove in the Premier League, motivation should not be an issue for Bournemouth ahead of their return to the top flight for the 2022/23 season.

Parker has won promotion from the second tier for the second time in his short managerial career, and the former England international will be desperate not to repeat his dismal debut campaign as a boss in the Premier League in 2020/21, when Fulham were relegated with a whimper.

Bournemouth went down by a point in 2019/20 and their path back was a tough one, their hopes of an immediate return ended by a playoff defeat to Brentford in 2020/21.

Will the Cherries’ hopes turn sour or can Parker give them staying power with his second bite of the Premier League cherry? Here’s their schedule.

Bournemouth Premier League fixtures 2022/23

Bournemouth’s 2022/23 fixtures will be released on Thursday, June 16 at 9 a.m. BST (4 a.m. ET). In addition to the near month-long break for the FIFA World Cup (Nov. 14-Dec. 18), there will be two FIFA international breaks: Sept. 19-27, 2022 and March 20-28, 2023.

According to a report in The Times, a total of 16 Premier League matchdays will be played before the FIFA World Cup break, and the remaining 22 following the World Cup.

In order to squeeze in 16 Premier League matchdays before the World Cup, there will need to be two midweek slates. A midweek in August (Aug. 31 would make most sense to avoid early season fixture congestion and potential injuries) and another on Oct. 19 are the available slots.

Two midweek dates post-World Cup will also be required given the two weekends dedicated to the FA Cup in January. If the Premier League maintains its three-matchday tradition around the holidays, then Jan. 4 could be one option. The other most likely slot would be either Feb. 8 or May 3 given other competitions and the late March FIFA break. Last season the Premier League played the February midweek, leaving May open for rescheduled matches.

The Sporting News will bring you all the fixtures below as soon as they are released on Thursday, June 16 at 9 a.m. BST (4 a.m. ET).

Bournemouth in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup

Anything but humiliation in the cups would be an improvement for Bournemouth in 2022/23. They will be hoping their 6-0 Carabao Cup defeat at Norwich, who were relegated from the Premier League, is no omen for their chances in the division, restarting in that competition in November.

Matters were even worse for Bournemouth in the FA Cup, which they will return to in January. Non-league Boreham Wood won 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium in the 2021/22 fourth round, providing arguably the upset of the season in the competition.

Bournemouth Premier League projection & odds

Parker might well pin the relegation odds on the dressing room wall as an incentive for his players to defy the doubters and bookmakers, who have Bournemouth as the odds-on favourites for relegation.

Recruitment in defence could be crucial for Parker after loanees Nat Phillips (Liverpool) and Leif Davis (Leeds) returned to their clubs and hugely experienced former England defender Gary Cahill left Bournemouth. There is always at least one surprise package across a season, and the club’s spending power remains bolstered by their previous spell in the Premier League.

Bournemouth best & worst Premier League finish

Bournemouth had a storied rise through the divisions, surging from the fourth and bottom tier of English football in 2008 to the Premier League in 2015, where they impressively remained for five seasons.

That was Bournemouth’s first experience of the modern Premier League, and ex-boss Eddie Howe, who had played for the club and guided them from League Two to the Premier League, led them to a best-ever ninth place in 2016/17.

Stability under long-serving Howe made it something of a surprise when Bournemouth finished 18th in their last season in the Premier League. Howe left shortly afterwards, and will no doubt receive a warm reception from fans of his former club in his new role in charge of a transformed Newcastle.
